I was very fortunate to have participated in a charity event this past summer at The Hogle Zoo. I was asked by the activities director at the zoo to be available to photograph over 500 families attending the Dream Night. Once per year The Hogle Zoo has a Dream Night for families with children with disabilities. The zoo invites these wonderful families to enjoy one awesome evening with the zoo all to themselves! Each of the families attending gets treated to a wonderful evening which includes dinner, face painting, animal shows, photos (that was me!) and other fun activities. I was honored to be a part of such a wonderful event. I am looking forward to doing it again next year! (A huge thank you goes to Jon Woodbury for the referral. He was originally asked to be the photographer for the event, but wasn’t able to participate because he had already booked a wedding for the same evening.)

In my business, word of mouth is very important to be successful. I do not pay for advertising, so all of my business is booked from referrals and repeat clients. I just recently booked a wedding that came from a referral from Amy and Kevin. I shot their engagement session, bridals and wedding recently. To show them appreciation for spreading the word about my business, I put together a custom slide show for them with their choice of photos and music. Thank you so much! I really appreciate you sharing the love, I am successful because of all of you!
One of the benefits of being a photographer is that when friends come into town often times I get hired for photographs. This is one of those sessions. Not only do the pictures rock, but I got to visit with an old friend from Washington who has since moved to New Jersey. It was so good to see her and to meet her adorable son. He was so fabulous. I have never taken so many pictures of a two year old in one sitting! He lasted for 2 hours of photos in the heat, amazing. I love his red hair, I love the location and the clothing choices were perfect….what a great session. Thank you Laura!
Recently I booked a wedding in Washington. When I found out it was a wedding on the coast, I was thrilled. The wedding was held at the beautiful Judith Ann Inn where friends and family gathered to celebrate the union of one really cool couple and their beautiful daughter. I can tell you that since I lived in Washington I knew that the chances for rain on the coast for the day of the wedding would be pretty high. Can anyone guess what kind of weather we had? Rain, wind and more rain. That makes taking formal pictures kind of dicey. Frank and Heather were great about standing in the freezing rain on the beach and the balconies of the Inn all in the name of getting great photos! That is my kind of couple. The coolest part about their wedding story is that their first date was at Ocean Shores and on that anniversary several years later Frank proposed to Heather there. Frank and Heather decided it would seriously rock if they got married at Ocean Shores on the anniversary of both of the events that started it all. That is pretty cool and I give Frank serious kudos for only having to remember ONE important anniversary date each year!
